Poems (From college)

Let me preface that these poems were from a class I took. They may be in First draft form or second draft. I find them fun and whimsical in a way.

Beauty
the true beauty of this world
does not reside in the buildings
or an ancient marble statue
It lies in the faces
of hearts ready to love
their arms stretch;
ready to give
hope to those around
It radiates in
smiles-bright and warm moments
while we remember the ones
this Christmas season

I took a nursery rhyme and transformed it into a poem

Hey diddle diddle
the cat and the fiddle
the dish ran away with the spoon
and the cow jumped over the moon

he played the fiddle,
quite badly may I add

A cat sat upon his shoulder
how oddly it stared

Amid loud screeches
his eyes closed

maybe the dish
ran away with the spoon

wait how did the;
cow jump over the moon

maybe it is a trick
for it is Halloween

Snake
rattlesnakes;swim
the mirror was about
to leave
boy meets girl
a piece of her mind;
nursing her wrath
the devil was going
to roast him
“the cake made Jimmie
sick”

As you can tell I love nature poems more than anything or ones that make you think about your life in a way.

Buzz
Aprils first bees, newly minted
life won't be easier

a beating of wings;
drifted like embers

a gathering of baby bees
the sound moving

colors attract
the hive is calling

Side Note: I only wrote the first line of this
Combo of Madness
The train has just left the station
it begins to chug carefully along towards its destination
I wondered where it was heading
is it heading to a new world
is it heading toward my new beginning
I cannot wait for my new life
New life will be filled with palm trees and speedos
New York city, the foot life, do or die
I choose to die, alone in this filth covered city
because the streets are owned and I am to be
sold as slave is
Today I will go home and bake an apple pie
no one likes my cooking
Its just squeeze smuckers and cinnamon- but still
Dried chicken

I only wrote the first haiku

Rain falls on the earth
drops splash onto the dry grass
Thus the day was grey

worms were washed out of their homes
people flooded into theirs

puddles are forming
autumn leaves floating like boats
the surface ripples

the wind fast and hard, no stop
cold breeze, freeze my heart

its unlivable
I will not tolerate it
something must be done

the saints marched in to help out
Dwayne carter was pissed right off

full house is no poker
Tony Danza is big meech
whos Larry Hoover?

Back to flooded worms at home
bet a dollar, you'll eat one

someone call the cat
the one in the cat who saved
those poor kids from boredom

Tony Danza? Cat in the hat?
Who is Larry Hoover Please
when will the flood be over

the cat in the hat
comes marching in where it is at
he says “ don't eat worms “

But there are worms everywhere
What am I going to eat than?

I will kill the cat
and make some chicken fried rice
yes that's possible

with what, I set to boil
the cat, and even the hat

the rain blew through our
window and Tony looked up
from kissing Larry

that nature man told me then
that fires were here not worms

Glass houses
People in glass houses should not throw stones
why does the cloud rain on your party
laws are meant to be broken
I hear voices singing out
beyond the cliff
notes thread onto the needle
exclaiming an injustice
for which we cannot fix
one name, one person
has a blackberry to text the change he wants to see

Object of leaf

rooted in sunshine
green,breathing
one of a million

all changing colors
slipping into a blanket
without a light to be seen

bare branches hang limp
waiting until snow escapes
and blooms love
